Unless otherwise stated, images from television broadcasts, films and DVD extras were captured by me from a variety of source materials ranging in quality from excellent to very poor and presented here “as is” (with the exception of the first image in the group). Some have been resized to save on storage and bandwidth or improve clarity Other images on the pages linked in the menu have been collected over the years from other fans and the occasional news agency or sites that no longer exist. In all cases, copyright belongs to the producer(s) of the source material and no infringement is intended. In other words, I do not own them nor do I profit from them.
Images included in the blog entries are usually in order of appearance in the broadcast or film and will contain spoilers, sometimes major spoilers like character deaths. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THE STORY BEFOREHAND, DO NOT VIEW THE IMAGES. For that reason, except for an introductory image at the front of the entry, images are kept behind a “continue reading” cut.
My interest in Toyohara is due to his excellence as an actor, particularly in his range and ability to communicate everything a character presents, from personal quirks to reactions to what is going on. I appreciate his willingness to give whatever is required from a role, even when that means being less than attractive or hilariously silly. He appeals to my interest in the craft of acting and the images I choose to share on the blog reflect that. I’m as interested in how he interacts with the space around him as I am in close-ups of his fluid expressions. It means that there are often images included that aren’t focused on Toyohara, his face, or may not be considered to be showing him in a positive light according to others’ tastes and sensibilities.
The blog is limited to Toyohara’s work and things he choses to share publicly. Personal information can be found on his offical sites. His private life is his own.
Information on the blog is by no means complete or authoritative. I am sure there are errors I’m not aware of. My interest in finding out more didn’t begin until 2005 and I’m dealing with a language I cannot read. Things like CMs, variety shows, guest appearances and any kind of live performance are ephemeral and difficult to track down.
A lot of what is on this blog is due to the enthusiasm and generosity of many fans of Japanese film & television and of Toyohara, who have made videos and images available to me, alerted me to information, given me feedback, and most of all, their understanding friendship. My public thanks again to each and every one.
